Everyone in the town of Sleepy Hollow thought it a little too on the nose for two surgeons to name their sole dog "Doc," but Robert and Marie did, and that basset hound was well loved, returning affection ten-fold. As Marie would account to the police, it was Doc who led her to Robert's body in the shed out back. She had been oblivious to her husband’s fate before returning from work.
After their adventure in the sewer, Pim and Rudder were exhausted. The brothers had survived the threat of mice and Pim had made it out of a human’s house with his life. As scared as he was inside the glass jar in the giant human’s hand, he was more terrified to arrive home where his mother and her wrath would be waiting for him. As they trailed through the blades of grass, the brothers found themselves in the shadow of giant structures filled with screams and a buzz that Pim could feel all the way inside his chest.
“What is that,” Rudder asked, echoing Pim’s own thoughts. Just then, something slammed to the ground right in front of them and kicked up a cloud of dirt and dust. Once it cleared, a honey bee laid before them. They looked above at the top of one of the structures, and saw someone jerk back inside. “Rudder, we have to go in there!” “Why?” “Look at this poor thing! It’s a honey bee, and it’s still covered in pollen. It didn’t deserve whatever happened to it.” “No one else is getting inside our hive! We’ve had enough!” |
