I was searching for him, but our Labrador-German-Shepherd mix, Bull, was not responding to my calls. It seemed like hours that I was searching for him, but he wouldn’t come. Then, later that day as I returned home from school, he approached as I was unlocking the front door. His golden coat was caked in mud and blood, and his face looked as though it had been pushed into the road at a hundred miles per hour. I stared at his eye that was hanging loosely from its socket, and, as he approached, the fear the filled me forced me to push him away with my foot as I struggled to unlock the door. He didn’t bark; he only snarled. I pushed my left foot out, kicking at him while I cried, and my dog clamped down on my ankle, my foot slipping inside his throat. The pressure on my left ankle was unbearable. As the door finally gave way, I slammed to the floor inside my family’s house, and that’s when I woke up, drenched in sweat.
