Your main character is going to be pretty disappointed when they nick their spine and are paralyzed instead of dying. One more misery in their life, I guess.

Thanks. I do, too, especially since this is inspired by a true story about a family friend. Though I embellished on the events for the sake of fiction, her husband actually took his own life while on the phone with her. Depression is a very real issue for many people.
